Caracterización de la hipertensión arterial en un área de salud

Abstract

Se realizó un estudio descriptivo y transversal para conocer las características de la hipertensión arterial en el área de salud Este, desde septiembre de 1997 a septiembre de 1998. El universo de estudio estuvo constituido por 1 489 pacientes dispensarizados como hipertensos, pertenecientes a 47 consultorios del citado policlínico. La fuente de datos fueron las historias clínicas familiares e individuales de los pacientes a los cuales se les aplicó la encuesta confeccionada para el estudio cubano sobre tabaco y salud. De los pacientes estudiados, predominó el grupo de edad de 55-64 años, con un 26, 79 %, el sexo femenino, el 63, 45 % y la categoría ocupacional de servicios, el 30, 35 %. Se concluyó que la mitad de los hipertensos fumaba, y la cardiopatía isquémica resultó la enfermedad asociada más frecuente.
