Abstract

RESUMEN

Fundamento: las enfermedades trazadoras del abdomen agudo quirúrgico no traumático son responsables de una elevada carga de morbilidad y mortalidad en los cuerpos de guardia de cirugía.
Objetivo: describir el comportamiento del abdomen agudo quirúrgico no traumático a partir de enfermedades trazadoras.
Método: se realizó un estudio prospectivo, observacional y descriptivo de corte transversal en un universo de 1037 pacientes con diagnóstico de alguna enfermedad del abdomen agudo quirúrgico no traumático atendidos en el cuerpo de guardia del servicio de Cirugía General, del Hospital Provincial Universitario Celia Sánchez Manduley, Manzanillo, Granma, en el año 2013.
Resultados: la apendicitis aguda fue la enfermedad más frecuente con el 57,28 % del total de casos. La edad media fue de 29 a 67 años. Predominó el sexo masculino, el tratamiento quirúrgico y la evolución satisfactoria. Las complicaciones más frecuentes fueron los trastornos hidroelectrolíticos y ácido/base, la infección del sitio quirúrgico y el íleo paralítico. La estadía hospitalaria media fue de 11,3 días, la mortalidad fue de 4,09 % y el índice de reintervenciones fue de 2,03 %.
Conclusiones: la apendicitis aguda es la enfermedad trazadora del abdomen agudo quirúrgico no traumático más frecuente.
