Arthroscopic treatment of chronic shoulder instability

Background: chronic shoulder instability is a disease that affects young patients generally. Its main treatment is surgery, either by open way or arthroscopically.
Objective: to deepen into aspects such as surgical indications and most used techniques in arthroscopical way.
Methods: search for information was carried out from May 1st 2016 to June 30th 2016. A biblio-graphical review of 539 published articles in Pubmed, Hinari, SciELO and Medline databases, through the information locator EndNote was conducted. Among all, 54 quotes were selected to conduct the revision; all of them were from five years including four books.
Development: stabilizers of the shoulder divided into static and dynamic are described. Gene-ral surgical indications and advantages of arthroscopic treatment, as well as the most used anesthetic methods are stated. The techniques of Bankart, Lartajet, repair of glenohumeral ligaments, and remplis-sage were described.
Conclusions: arthroscopic treatment has several advantages over open ones. The most com-mon techniques are Bankart, capsular plication, Latarjet and remplissage.
