Educación: un pilar importante en el tratamiento del paciente asmático

Abstract

Se presenta un estudio observacional de 46 pacientes asmáticos, divididos en dos grupos, A y B. El grupo (A) recibió orientación educativa y el grupo B (22 pacientes) solo tratamiento farmacológico, con el objetivo de conocer el valor de la educación en el paciente asmático y sus familiares. Dicho estudio fue efectuado en el hospital Armando E. Cardoso en el período de un año. Como resultado se obtuvo menor número de ingresos y de crisis en el grupo A, así como un menor ausentismo escolar, disminución en la duración de las crisis, además una reducción de la asistencia al servicio de urgencias en dicho grupo en comparación con el grupo B. Se concluyó que la educación es un pilar importante en el manejo del paciente asmático.
