Repercusión socioeconómica del tratamiento quirúrgico ambulatorio del trauma maxilofacial

Abstract

Se realizó un estudio observacional explicativo longitudinal a 120 pacientes con trauma maxilofacial seleccionados para cirugía ambulatoria en el Hospital Provincial Clínico - Quirúrgico Docente Manuel Ascunce Domenech de Camagüey, de febrero 1998 a febrero 2001 con el objetivo de valorar el efecto socioeconómico del proceder. Los pacientes siguieron el mecanismo hospitalario instituido para el tratamiento de su afección quirúrgica. Las intervenciones más frecuentes fueron la reducción de fracturas orbitocigomáticas (45%) y nasales (38, 5 %), los procederes quirúrgico y anestésico fueron satisfactorios. Se lograron resultados finales buenos en el 90, 8 % de los pacientes, y satisfacción completa en el 95, 1 %. El ahorro a la institución fue de $ 336 33, 73 en moneda nacional, lo que demuestra lo necesario de incrementar esta modalidad. El trauma maxilofacial puede ser tratado ambulatoriamente con seguridad, eficacia y economía.
