Capacidad funcional en ancianos con fractura de cadera

Abstract

Se realizó un estudio prospectivo, transversal y descriptivo, con un universo de 341 pacientes operados por fractura de cadera en el servicio de Ortopedia y Traumatología del hospital Salvador Allende, de La Habana, durante el período comprendido entre el 1ro. de abril de 1999 hasta el 1ro. de abril del 2000. La muestra fue de 94 pacientes, (24, 6 %) que eran mayores de 60 años y residentes en el municipio Cerro. Existió un predominio del material de osteosíntesis como modalidad quirúrgica (73, 40 %), iniciado con la deambulación de 30 pacientes después de la quinta semana; se logró deambulación precoz en 12 de ellos con el empleo de material de endoprótesis. Respecto a la capacidad funcional, se vio afectada la actividad instrumentada (Lawton) en relación con la no instrumentada (Katz), aumentando la dependencia en 23 pacientes contra 15 respectivamente.
