Relación de moluscos dulceacuícolas de relevancia sanitaria para la cayería norte de Camagüey. Estudio preliminar

Abstract

Como resultado de las prospecciones malacológicas realizadas en los cayos Mégano Grande, Cruz, Romano y Guajaba, pertenecientes a la cayería norte de Camagüey, se estableció la distribución general de moluscos dulceacuícolas de relevancia médica. Siete géneros y cinco familias fueron colectadas pertenecientes a: Ampullaridae, Lymnaeidae, Physidae, Planorbidae y Succineacea, todas de relevancia e interés sanitario. No se colectaron ejemplares del grupo en los cayos Mégano Grande y Cruz debido a la existencia de condiciones ecológicas desfavorables. Cayo Romano se destacó por el número de especies reportadas. Se iniciaron estudios más profundos destinados a actualizar, enriquecer y sistematizar los conocimientos que se poseen sobre las especies de moluscos dulceacuícolas y terrestres, lo cual es imprescindible para trazar efectivas estrategias de control sobre hospederos intermediarios de enfermedades tropicales al hombre.
