Cáncer del pulmón. Comportamiento en un quinquenio

Abstract

Se realizó un estudio transversal y descriptivo en un universo de 203 pacientes que ingresaron con el diagnóstico de cáncer del pulmón en el servicio de medicina interna del Hospital Provincial Manuel Ascunce Domenech de Camagüey, durante el quinquenio de enero de1991 a diciembre de 1996, con el objetivo de conocer el comportamiento de esta entidad. Los datos fueron analizados en una microcomputadora IBM mediante el paquete de programas Microstat. En este estudio predominaron los pacientes del sexo masculino 130 (64.05%) y edades entre 55 y 64 años, 71(34.97%); los fumadores tuvieron mayor incidencia 156 (76.85%); y la enfermedad pulmonar obstructiva crónica resultó el antecedente patológico personal más frecuente con 80 (40.39%). La tos fue la manifestación clínica mayormente presentada 159 (17.51%) y el carcinoma epidermoide en 67 (33.00%) el tipo histológico más diagnosticado en los pacientes.
