Tromboembolismo pulmonar como causa de muerte en la provincia de Camagüey

Abstract

Se hace un estudio de los certificados de defunción de pacientes fallecidos en la provincia de Camagüey en el período de l996-l997, ambos incluidos, y de ellos los que tenían como causa de muerte el tromboembolismo pulmonar, basándose en la confirmación necrópsica. Encontramos correlación clínico- patológica en el 16,8 %. El mayor número de enfermos eran mayores de 60 años y masculinos. Los síntomas y signos que predominaron en los casos de diagnóstico clínico confirmado fueron disnea, taquicardia, cianosis y shock y los que predominaron en caso de confirmación necrópsica fueron disnea, fiebre y taquicardia. Los factores predisponentes más importantes fueron las enfermedades cardiovasculares y respiratorias, así como el postoperatorio las fracturas y tromboflebitis. Las intervenciones quirúrgicas del abdomen fueron las más asociadas con el tromboembolismo pulmonar en este estudio.
