Abstract

La Reacción en Cadena de la Polimerasa es una novedad técnica que permite la síntesis in vitro de millones de copias de un segmento específico del ADN. Su alta especificidad y sensibilidad han hecho de esta sencilla, pero ingeniosa metodología una herramienta que ha evolucionado el análisis y la manipulación del material genético. Actualmente la aplicación de artículos científicos donde se refiere la utilización de esta técnica es exponencial, por ello se hace esta revisión con el objetivo de informar al lector sobre los principios de este procedimiento, los requerimientos de laboratorio para su realización, sus posibles aplicaciones y sus ventajas. Para ello se revisaron 46 documentos. Una poderosa herramienta de investigación ha surgido, su aplicación en diferentes campos del conocimiento científico sitúan a la Reacción en Cadenas de la Polimerasa como el factor fundamental que explica el actual desarrollo alcanzado en el análisis y manipulación del material genético en animales y plantas.
