Estrés y su influencia en la enfermedad periodontal

Abstract

Se realizó estudio preliminar transversal descriptivo para determinar la influencia del estrés en la prevalencia y severidad de la enfermedad periodontal en miembros del MININT. El trabajo abarcó el período comprendido de mayo a octubre de 1994. El universo estuvo constituido por 1 200 trabajadores de los órganos de prisiones y construcciones con edad que osciló entre 20 y 45 años, seleccionando 220 mediante muestreo sistemático tomando 55 para estudio preliminar según programa EPIDAT. Se diseñó encuesta estomatológica para medir grado de higiene bucal, prevalencia y severidad de la enfermedad periodontal y los test de Inventario de Ansiedad Rasgo Estado (IDARE) y Estado de Ansiedad Patológica(EAP) para evaluar estrés. Se obtuvo con 95% de confiabilidad que el 43,6% presentó signos moderados y altos de estrés situacional. La afección de mayor prevalencia es la gingivitis marginal crónica (50,9%). La higiene bucal regular predominó en los combatientes con estrés moderado (25,4%) y alto (30,9%).
