Eficacia de la terapia laser en la estomatitis subprótesis. Estudio preliminar

Abstract

Con el objetivo de evaluar la eficacia de la terapia LASER de HeNe en la estomatitis subprótesis, se realizó un ensayo clínico fase II, abierto en la Clínica Estomatológica Docente Provincial de Camagüey durante el período de septiembre de 1998 a septiembre de 1999. Luego de haber aplicado los criterios de inclusión y exclusión la muestra quedó constituida por 24 pacientes de ambos sexos y mayores de 15 años con diagnóstico de estomatitis subprótesis. Para el tratamiento se utilizó el equipo LASER-Med 101 MD, de fabricación cubana empleando la técnica puntual local y de barrido con el parámetro antinflamatorio. Las primeras cinco sesiones se aplicaron con una frecuencia diaria y con parámetros regenerativos, las cinco sesiones siguientes en días alternos. Predominó el sexo femenino y la mayoría de los pacientes presentó estomatitis subprótesis grado II. Resultó significativo el número de pacientes curados al finalizar el tratamiento (2, 339 E-0, 3), no se encontró asociación estadística entre el hábito de fumar y la eficacia del tratamiento. La totalidad de los pacientes que presentaron síntomas se encontraban asintomáticos al finalizar el tratamiento. Se concluye que la terapia LASER es un tratamiento eficaz de elección en la estomatitis subprótesis.
