Factores de riesgo de la enfermedad cerebrovascular en Nuevitas

Abstract

Se realizó un estudio de casos y controles con el objetivo de conocer el comportamiento de algunos factores de riesgo asociados a la enfermedad cerobrovascular en el área de salud correspondiente al Policlínico Comunitario Francisco Peña Peña de Nuevitas, de abril a diciembre de 1997. Se estudiaron 98 casos y 196 controles. Los datos recogidos en la encuesta aplicada a los dos grupos se procesaron de forma computarizada. Los resultados encontrados fueron: el 77, 55% de los casos eran mayores de 60 años y predominó significativamente en este grupo el sexo masculino. El infarto cerebral trombótico fue la forma de presentación prevalente. La hipertensión arterial constituyó el factor de riesgo de mayor prevalencia seguida en orden decreciente por la cardiopatía isquémica, la diabetes mellitus, el hábito de fumar y la hipercolesterolemia.
