Infarto cerebral trombótico. Caracterización en un año

Abstract

Se realizó un estudio transversal y descriptivo en una muestra de 130 pacientes que ingresaron con el diagnóstico de infarto cerebral trombótico en el servicio de medicina interna del Hospital Provincial Manuel Ascunce Domenech de Camagüey, durante un año a partir de septiembre de 1999; con el objetivo de conocer el comportamiento de esta entidad en nuestro medio. Estos sujetos fueron elegidos por el método de selección sistemática; los datos fueron analizados en una microcomputadora IBM mediante el paquete de programas Microstat. Predominó el sexo masculino, edades entre 70 y79 años y la hipertensión arterial (45,38%) como el principal factor de riesgo; la arteria cerebral media del hemisferio dominante fue la localización más frecuente del infarto cerebral, el hematócrito se mantuvo normal en el mayor número de pacientes y la bronconeumonía fue la más presentada de las complicaciones.
