Evaluación clínico-metabólica-neurofisiológica en niños diabéticos insulino dependientes

Abstract

Se realizó un estudio prospectivo a 20 niños diabéticos Tipo I en el Hospital Pediátrico Provincial de Camagüey, Cuba en el período comprendido desde octubre de 1996 hasta marzo de 1997, con el objetivo de determinar las afecciones clínicas y subclínicas presentes en estos pacientes. Se efectuó un examen neurológico convencional, estudios de neuroconducción y determinación del estado metabólico. Se obtuvo alteración en la conducción nerviosa en casi todos los pacientes, aún con examen neurológico normal presentando la mayoría de los casos lesiones neuropáticas subclínicas. Las manifestaciones clínicas y lesiones subclínicas fueron mayores cuanto peor fue el control metabólico y más prolongado el tiempo de evolución de la enfermedad.
