Comportamiento de las metas de salud bucal para el año 2000 en el área centro de Camagüey

Abstract

Se realizó un estudio descriptivo en 150 historias familiares de Estomatología, donde fueron encuestados 478 pacientes comprendidos en las metas de salud bucal de la OMS para el año 2000 para conocer su incidencia en el área centro de Camagüey. El 80 % de la población de 5 a 6 años de edad estaba libre de caries, por lo que la meta estuvo por encima de los propósitos para el milenio y de la media nacional que era de 55 %. El índice CPOD fue de 3.6 por encima del propósito con un indicador negativo. El 73 % de los adolescentes de 18 años de edad presentó todos los dientes funcionales en boca. En cuanto al promedio de dientes perdidos, tanto en las poblaciones de 35 a 44 como mayores de 65 estuvo por debajo, presentando resultados favorables Las afecciones parodontales, según la encuesta no constituyen problemas representativos en el área.
