Uso irracional de los análisis de urgencia

Abstract

Se evaluaron los niveles de uso de los análisis en el laboratorio de urgencias (Cuerpo de Guardia) del Hospital Provincial M.A.D. de Camagüey durante el año 2000. Los Internistas fueron los que más utilizaron nuestro servicio. La búsqueda de enfermedades asintomáticas, pruebas de vigilancia demasiado frecuentes y la complacencia fueron las causas que incidieron con mayor fuerza en el uso inapropiado de las pruebas de laboratorio. Durante el año evaluado se atendieron 23 665 pacientes y se realizaron 33 491 análisis con una positividad del 33 %, además de determinaciones que una vez realizadas no fueron recogidos sus resultados (552). Desafortunadamente las pruebas que miden los niveles del uso de las determinaciones de laboratorio son deficientes, no obstante, es necesario racionalizar el uso de los recursos disponibles, porque a pesar de que son insuficientes no se utilizan adecuadamente.
