Comportamiento de las caídas en el adulto mayor en un área de salud

Abstract

Se realizó un estudio transversal para conocer el comportamiento de las caídas en el adulto mayor del área de salud perteneciente al policlínico Comunitario Docente Carlos Juan Finlay del municipio de Camagüey durante el año 2000. El universo estuvo constituido por los 81 pacientes de 60 años y más que durante ese período sufrieron alguna caída y acudieron a alguno de los servicios de salud, de ellos el 65, 43 % fueron del sexo femenino, los cambios fisiológicos de la visión se presentaron en el 96, 3 % de los ancianos, las afecciones del sistema osteomioarticular se manifestaron en 77 de ellos para el 95, 6 %, los pisos resbaladizos incidieron en el 46, 9 % de las causas extrínsecas de caída y la complicación que más frecuentemente se manifestó fue la limitación de la motilidad. Los cambios fisiológicos de mayor frecuencia fueron los visuales y dentro de los procesos patológicos se manifestaron en mayor frecuencia los del sistema Osteomioarticular.
