Morbimortalidad por abdomen agudo en el paciente geriátrico

Abstract

Se realizó un estudio descriptivo transversal en 279 pacientes de 60 años y más, intervenidos quirúrgicamente de urgencia por abdomen agudo, en el Hospital Docente Provincial "Manuel Ascunce Domenech" de Camagüey, en el período comprendido entre enero 1995 a diciembre 1999. El objetivo fue determinar la morbimortalidad por esta entidad en la edad geriátrica. Los varones de 60 a 79 años de edad fueron los más afectados. Las complicaciones de las hernias abdominales y la colecistitis agudas fueron las principales causas de abdomen agudo en los ancianos. Predominaron las complicaciones sépticas y los trastornos hidrominerales y ácido-básico; las afecciones que aportaron mayor mortalidad fueron las perforaciones y las oclusiones intestinales. La estadía hospitalaria fue de 6 a 10 días.
