Traumatismo torácico. Estudio de un cuatrienio

Abstract

Se realizó un estudio descriptivo con los expedientes clínicos de 252 pacientes afectados por trauma de tórax, ingresados en la unidad de politrauma del Hospital Provincial Docente Manuel Ascunce Domenech de Camagüey, desde enero de 1996 a diciembre de1999. Analizamos las variables edad, sexo, causas, tipo de lesión, su relación con otras regiones lesionadas, así como el estado de los pacientes al egresar. Existió un predominio del sexo masculino con respecto al femenino; los grupos de edades comprendidos entre 15 a 29 años y 30 a 44 años fueron los más afectados, las lesiones que se observaron en mayor porciento fueron los hemoneumotórax, las fracturas costales múltiples y los neumotórax; las lesiones abdominales y craneales fueron las que más se asociaron al trauma del tórax.
