Correlación entre las malformaciones congénitas y la mortalidad infantil

Abstract

Se realizó un estudio descriptivo transversal en 44 niños con malformaciones congénitas fallecidos en el municipio Nuevitas de Camagüey, entre 1979 y 1999. La información, recogida en un formulario creado a dicho efecto, se obtuvo de los expedientes clínicos y de los archivos estadísticos del municipio. Los datos fueron procesados mediante el programa estadístico Microstad, realizando distribuciones de frecuencias en cada una de las tablas. Se realizó una valoración del diagnóstico genético en el municipio y se concluyó que la tasa de mortalidad infantil por malformaciones congénitas se mantiene elevada. El desarrollo de la consulta genética multidisciplinaria es esencial a fin de poder disminuir la incidencia de este tipo de enfermedad multifactorial.
