Presencia de e. coli enteropatógenas en pacientes con diarrea aguda

Abstract

El estudio abarcó un total de 226 cepas de E. coli, procedentes de 144 pacientes menores de 5 años, afectados de esta enfermedad diarreica aguda. El aislamiento y caracterización de las categorías enteropatógenas se realizó acorde al esquema propuesto por Barreto. La frecuencia de presentación de las categorías enteropatógenas en los pacientes de EDA fue enteroinvasivas 11,8%; enterohemorrágicas 10,4%, enterotoxigénicas 0,69%. Por carencia de inmunosueros específicos no se estableció la frecuencia de presentación del tipo enteropatógenos clásicos. No obstante, los resultados obtenidos infieren su participación causal. Los porcentajes de aislamiento de E. coli enterohemorrágica y E. coli enteroinvasiva muestran la necesidad de instrumentar este tipo de diagnóstico.
