La máscara facial ortopédica: su importancia en el tratamiento de la clase III de angle

Abstract

Se realizó revisión bibliográfica actualizada de la máscara facial ortopédica y se analizaron las ventajas y posibilidades de esta terapéutica para el tratamiento de la Clase III de Angle desde edades tempranas y en otras disgnatias como el braquignatismo maxilar en pacientes con labio y paladar fisurados. Se describieron los pasos en la construcción de cada elemento constitutivo, así como la aplicación de las fuerzas ortopédicas y evolución de los pacientes en la clínica. Se recomienda la utilización de la máscara facial dinámica por sus múltiples ventajas para el paciente y el ortodoncista, con el consiguiente ahorro de materiales y tiempo en la clínica y el laboratorio.
