Complicaciones con el uso de antimetabolitos en la cirugía de glaucoma

Abstract

Con el advenimiento de nuevas técnicas quirúrgicas para el glaucoma se ha comenzado a utilizar antimetabolitos (mitomicina C) de forma intraoperatoria en los procederes filtrantes. Realizamos un estudio descriptivo de 44 ojos operados de glaucoma con mitomicina C en el período comprendido de mayo a diciembre de 2001, en el Hospital Interprovincial Manuel Ascunce Domenech con el objetivo de valorar las complicaciones posquirúrgicas con el uso de antimetabolitos (mitomicina C) en las cirugías filtrantes de glaucoma. con este proceder. En nuestro universo predomina el sexo femenino y la raza blanca y los pacientes son en su mayoría mayores de 40 años. Las complicaciones más frecuentes fueron la cámara anterior aplanada en un 11, 3 % seguida por la maculopatía hipotónica y el astigmatismo 9, 09 % y con menor incidencia los pliegues de la membrana de Descemet y un paciente de papiledema.
