Síndrome de atención deficitaria con hiperactividad. Valoración neuropsiquiátrica y respuesta al tratamiento con metilfenidato

Abstract

Se realizó un estudio descriptivo y transversal con el objetivo de valorar a los pacientes que acudieron a las consultas de Psiquiatría y Neurología Infantil con diagnóstico de Síndrome de atención deficitaria asociado o no a hiperactividad, en el período comprendido entre los años 1997 al 2000. La muestra fue tomada de las historias clínicas existentes en el Policlínico de Especialidades, las cuales resultaron el registro primario, y quedaron constituidas por 120 pacientes con esta enfermedad en el período estudiado. Los resultados mostraron predominio evidente del sexo masculino (70, 83 %), un alto por ciento de familiares con antecedentes de esta enfermedad (48, 30 %); el 67, 50 % de los niños estudiados tenían antecedentes patológicos personales relacionados con el síndrome, también predominó el tipo combinado de atención deficitaria e hiperquinesia, según los criterios del DSM-IV, igualmente fue relevante la respuesta favorable al tratamiento con psicoestimulantes (metilfenidato) con 81, 37 % de los pacientes.
