Uso de la oxigenación hiperbárica en osteomielitis cervical. Estudio de caso

Abstract

El objetivo de este trabajo fue presentar un caso de osteomielitis atípico por su localización cervical (C6-C7) y por su origen, a punto de partida un traumatismo cerrado de cuello lesión esofágica. El diagnóstico se estableció a los tres meses de la lesión inicial y se corroboró por leucocitosis a predominio de neutrófilos, eritrosedimentación acelerada y radiografía cervical con los signos de esta afección. Se realizó tratamiento quirúrgico con curetaje te de la lesión, y se apoyó con el uso de antibióticos y oxigenación hiperbárica en ciclo inicial de 10 sesiones en días consecutivos a 2 atm, durante 50 min de isopresión, repetida a los cuatro meses. La mejoría precoz y recuperación total del paciente avalaron esta terapéutica coadyuvante en dicha afección.
