La neurocirugía vascular en Camagüey (1982-2002)

Abstract

La Neurocirugía Vascular ha desarrollado en los últimos 70 años distintas modalidades terapéuticas para tratar las enfermedades cerebrovasculares. La incidencia actual de estas enfermedades se eleva cada año. Los candidatos a cirugía también se incrementan por lo que es objetivo de esta investigación comunicar el comportamiento de esta subespecialidad en la provincia de Camagüey. La Neurocirugía Vascular requiere para su desarrollo de condiciones generales, tecnológicas y farmacológicas, en un sistema de salud social gratuito y de fácil acceso. Los resultados ofrecen beneficios institucionales científicos y sociales. Camagüey reporta una serie de 646 pacientes atendidos en los últimos 20 años y la introducción de siete nuevas técnicas de neurocirugía vascular compleja. Nuestro excelente sistema de salud, que integra perfectamente la prevención, la neurocirugía vascular gratuita y de fácil acceso y la rehabilitación, permitirá mejorar los indicadores de salud de nuestra población en este tipo de enfermedades y se producirá un impacto social y científico significativo.
