Abstract

Se reportó por primera vez en Camagüey la presencia de Aedes albopictus, especie involucrada en la transmisión potencial de importantes fiebres víricas. Se detectó en el municipio de Santa Cruz del Sur (provincia de Camagüey) en un cargamento de gomas, procedente de Ciudad Habana sin tratamiento y sin la debida protección, en el cual se colectaron estados inmaduros de todos los estadios larvales y una pupa de la especie analizada. Se procedió a implementar de manera priorizada medidas físicas, químicas y educativas de control, lo cual permitió establecer una barrera higiénico-entomológica que impidió la dispersión de la especie en el territorio.
