Correlación diagnóstica clínico–necrópsica en una unidad de cuidados intermedios polivalente

Abstract

Se realizó un estudio retrospectivo de historias clínicas para conocer la correlación existente entre los diagnósticos clínicos previos a la muerte y los hallazgos observados en las necropsias realizadas a los pacientes fallecidos en la unidad de cuidados intermedios del Hospital Provincial Docente Manuel Ascunce Domenech de Camagüey desde abril de 2002 a junio de 2003.El universo ascendió a 194 pacientes. Predominaron los hombres y los de 65 y más años. La correlación clínico-necrópsica fue completa en 173 pacientes (89, 1 %). En seis de ellos (3, 1 %) la necropsia evidenció hallazgos que conocidos a priori hubieran implicado un diferente manejo del paciente; en ocho necropsias (4, 8 %) los hallazgos autópsicos principales no implicaron cambio en el manejo del enfermo. En cinco (2, 6 %) los hallazgos secundarios asociados al principal no se relacionaron con la causa primaria de la muerte y sólo en dos enfermos estos hallazgos secundarios pudieran alterar el pronóstico en pacientes terminales.
