Shock séptico: un reto terapéutico de siempre

Abstract

Se realizó una revisión bibliográfica del shock séptico en el Hospital Provincial Clínico Quirúrgico Manuel Ascunce Domenech de Camagüey en el año 2003 para examinar de modo general los conceptos de sepsis, síndrome de respuesta inflamatoria sistémica (SRIS), disfunción múltiple de órganos (SDMO) y shock séptico; este último obedece a una respuesta estereotipada del huésped a la infección y a pesar de la monitorización y tratamiento agresivo con fluidos, antimicrobianos potentes, drogas vasoactivas e inotrópicas y bloqueo de la respuesta inflamatoria o tratamiento de avanzada, se ha podido modificar poco la mortalidad por este síndrome en los últimos años.
