Riesgos biológicos y psicológicos de inmovilización en pacientes geriátricos

Abstract

Se realizó un estudio descriptivo para identificar algunos factores de riesgo, biológicos y psicológicos, de inmovilización en los pacientes ingresados en el servicio de geriatría del Hospital Amalia Simoni de Camagüey, de enero de 2002 a enero de 2003. La muestra estuvo constituida por los 150 pacientes que presentaron riesgo de inmovilización a los cuales se les aplicó una encuesta. El grupo de edades que predominó fue de 70-79 años y el sexo femenino; como riesgos de inmovilización predominaron los biológicos y dentro de ellos las enfermedades músculo-esqueléticas. En la evaluación de las capacidades se afectaron en mayor número las físicas, dentro de ellas las actividades instrumentadas de la vida diaria y entre los pacientes inmovilizados fueron más frecuentes las complicaciones sistémicas.
