Sexualidad en el adulto mayor. Mitos y realidades

Abstract

Se realizó un estudio descriptivo con el objetivo de caracterizar la sexualidad en los adultos mayores pertenecientes al área de salud del Policlínico Comunitario Docente Carlos J. Finlay, de la provincia de Camagüey, desde junio de 2002 a abril de 2003. Se escogieron 90 ancianos de 60 años y más pertenecientes a los círculos de abuelos del área, se aplicó una encuesta en la que predominó el grupo de 60-64 años, el 68, 9 % interpretó la necesidad sexual como algo natural, no obstante, el interés por la misma se mostró menor, un 66 % mantienen una vida sexual activa, sin aceptación familiar para la conducta sexual en la mitad de los encuestados, la mayor influencia negativa para el disfrute del sexo fue la falta de privacidad.
