Diagnóstico de salud bucal en niños con retraso mental ligero

Abstract

La atención a discapacitados es cada día más importante, por ello se realizó una investigación con el objetivo de acercarnos a la problemática de salud bucal de niños con retraso mental ligero. Se efectuó un estudio observacional y descriptivo causal en dos escuelas especiales del municipio Camagüey, desde septiembre de 1999 a abril de 2001. La muestra estuvo constituida por 87 niños, a los que se le determinó el diagnóstico de salud bucal y educativo, este último mediante técnicas afectivo-participativas. Se realizó estadística descriptiva con distribución de frecuencia en cantidades absolutas y por ciento, y estadística inferencial a través de tablas de contingencia con la prueba chi-cuadrado y de hipótesis de proporciones. La alta prevalencia de enfermedades bucales estuvo influenciada por la presencia de numerosos factores de riesgo, por lo que un gran número de niños se clasificó como gravemente afectado.
