Salud bucal en la población geriátrica

Abstract

Con el objetivo de determinar el estado de salud bucal en la población geriátrica del consultorio 36, del área Oeste del municipio Camagüey, vinculado a la Clínica Estomatológica Docente Provincial Ismael Clark y Mascaró se realizó una investigación descriptiva en sistema y servicios de salud, desde septiembre a diciembre de 2003. Para la conformación de la muestra se tuvo en cuenta que los ancianos no presentaran trastornos sicosomáticos, ni alteración de la esfera cognoscitiva, de esta forma quedó constituida por 109 gerontes. Se identificaron los factores de riesgo y los principales problemas de salud bucal mediante la historia clínica de salud bucal familiar e individual de estomatología.: Predominó el grupo de edad de 60-64 años (31, 9 %), la mayoría presentó higiene bucal deficiente (90 %) y más de la mitad, enfermedad periodontal. La totalidad del grupo estudiado tuvo disfunción masticatoria.
