Alteraciones bucales en pacientes geriátricos portadores de prótesis total en dos áreas de salud

Abstract

Se realizó un estudio descriptivo en los consultorios 1,2, 38 y 40 del área norte y oeste del Municipio Camagüey, desde febrero de 2002 a marzo de 2003. Se seleccionaron 159 pacientes, de ellos, 85 presentaron algún tipo de lesión. Se encontró que aproximadamente la mitad de las personas estudiadas presentaron lesiones en la mucosa bucal. La localización más frecuente fue en el paladar y los rebordes alveolares. Esta investigación se realizó con el objetivo de describir las lesiones bucales en los pacientes geriátricos rehabilitados con prótesis total acrílica El sexo femenino y el grupo de 60 a 69 años fue el más afectado por la presencia de lesiones, las más frecuentes fueron los estados inflamatorios en pacientes con 21 años o más de uso y en rehabilitados con prótesis desajustadas.
