Degeneración macular relacionada con la edad. Rehabilitación visual

Abstract

Se realizó un estudio transversal descriptivo en la consulta de baja visión del Hospital Provincial Manuel Ascunce Domenech de Camagüey desde enero de 2003 a marzo de 2004, con el objetivo de determinar los resultados de la rehabilitación visual en los pacientes con degeneración macular relacionada con la edad que cursan con baja visón. El universo estuvo constituido por 44 pacientes. Predominó el grupo etáreo de 70-79 años y del sexo femenino. Al inicio de la rehabilitación todos los pacientes tenían la agudeza visual de cerca por debajo de 0, 3, mientras que después de la rehabilitación el 86, 2 % alcanzó una agudeza visual igual o superior a 0, 4. Se cumplió el principal objetivo planteado .La ayuda óptica que más se utilizó fue el microscopio.
