Resultados en el tratamiento quirúrgico del pterigion primario y recidivante

Abstract

Se realizó un estudio transversal descriptivo en 50 pacientes con diagnóstico de pterigion primario y recidivante, desde octubre a diciembre de 2004, atendidos en el Hospital Provincial Manuel Ascunse Domenech de Camagüey. Se analizó la técnica quirúrgica a emplear, así como la edad, el sexo, los factores irritantes, la labor que desempeña, el tratamiento medicamentoso, los síntomas referidos por el paciente y las complicaciones más frecuentes. Predominaron los rangos de edad entre los 20-29 años y 40-49años, lo que correspondió con la edad laboral; prevaleció el sexo masculino en los pacientes que realizan trabajos con mayor exposición a irritantes. Como síntomas más frecuentes se detectaron al lagrimeo, la fotofobia y el ardor. La queratoplastia lamelar periférica fue la técnica quirúrgica de mejores resultados. La presente investigación tiene como objetivo demostrar la técnica quirúrgica de mayor eficiencia en la curación del pterigion y a su vez mostrar la técnica que nos aportó menor número de recidiva.
