Salud bucal en pacientes portadores de prótesis. Etapa diagnóstica

Abstract

Se realizó un estudio descriptivo en sistema y servicio de salud en el consultorio 12 del área oeste del municipio Camagüey, desde marzo de 2002 a enero de 2003 para determinar el estado de salud bucal en pacientes portadores de prótesis total y parcial removible. La muestra estuvo constituida por 43 pacientes, a los que se les realizó un diagnóstico de salud bucal y educativo. Los factores de riesgo que prevalecieron fueron el cepillado deficiente de dientes remanentes (86, 9 %), no realizar visitas periódicas al estomatólogo (83, 7 %) y uso continuo del aparato protésico (81, 4 %). La enfermedad periodontal (69, 5 %), la caries dental (47, 8 %) y la estomatitis subprótesis (23, 2 %) fueron las principales afecciones de la cavidad bucal que predominaron en el estudio. La información higiénico-sanitaria-bucal fue evaluada de mal en el 69, 8 % de los pacientes rehabilitados.
