Diagnóstico ecográfico de la invaginación intestinal en el adulto. Reporte de un caso

Abstract

La invaginación intestinal tiene una baja incidencia en los adultos, representa un 5 % de las obstrucciones mecánicas intestinales, es causa demostrable hasta en un 90 % de los casos. Su presentación clínica suele ser inespecífica y el diagnóstico difícil, su demora puede conducir a la necrosis intestinal. Las técnicas imagenológicas representan un papel fundamental en el manejo de estos pacientes, en la mayoría deciden la intervención quirúrgica urgente. Los estudios radiológicos del abdomen, sobre todo los baritados se utilizan tradicionalmente para el diagnóstico definitivo de invaginación, sin embargo, actualmente el diagnóstico diferencial es más fácil con ultrasonido y tomografía computarizada. Se presenta un caso de invaginación intestinal en el adulto diagnosticado radiológicamente y por ultrasonido. Se comentan los hallazgos radiológicos y ecográficos, los cuales demuestran que el ultrasonido es una técnica de elección en pacientes adultos.
