Estudio histológico de lesiones de la cavidad bucal en el quinquenio 2001–2005

Abstract

Se realizó un estudio descriptivo y longitudinal de la incidencia de las lesiones que afectaron el complejo bucal, en el período comprendido entre enero de 2001 y diciembre de 2005, a 527 pacientes de ambos sexos, atendidos en los Servicios de Cabeza y Cuello y de Tumores Periféricos del Hospital Provincial Docente de Oncología María Curie de la ciudad de Camagüey. Un total de 33 enfermedades fueron diagnosticadas clínica e histológicamente; los pacientes se clasificaron según edad, sexo, raza y ubicación anatómica de la lesión. Las lesiones reportadas con mayor frecuencia fueron los carcinomas epidermoides y las leucoplasias; el labio inferior, lengua, encías y carrillo, resultaron los sitios anatómicos más afectados. La correlación entre el diagnóstico clínico e histológico fue de un 75, 3 %. La necesidad de un diagnóstico precoz de estas lesiones en su correspondiente nivel de prevención es indispensable.
