Equinoterapia: experiencia en un año de tratamiento

Abstract

Se realizó un estudio observacional descriptivo, para conocer los resultados del tratamiento con equinoterapia en los niños discapacitados que asistieron al centro de equinoterapia provincial de Camagüey, desde septiembre de 2004 a junio del 2005. El universo de estudio estuvo constituido por los 30 niños que asistieron al área terapéutica. Se aplicó una encuesta a las madres, la cual se convirtió en el registro primario. Los resultados se procesaron de forma automatizada, predominó el sexo femenino con un 53, 3 %, y el grupo de edad de 6 a 8 años con un 33, 3 %, el 66, 6 % tenía antecedentes perinatales, la hipoxia fue la más relevante con un 30 %. Predominaron lo niños con síndromes de Down y epilépticos para un 23, 3 %, el 83, 3 % presentó discapacidades mixtas y el 96, 6 % mostró mejorías con el tratamiento, en la seguridad un 93, 3 % y en la movilidad un 83, 3 %. Se concluyó que la mayoría de los niños mostraron mejorías con el tratamiento.
