Caracterización de las infecciones nosocomiales en pacientes con patología oncológica

Abstract

Se realizó un estudio descriptivo retrospectivo con el objetivo de caracterizar las infecciones nosocomiales en pacientes con enfermedad oncológica ingresados en el Hospital Oncológico Provincial Maria Curie de Camagüey, desde enero de 2000 hasta diciembre de 2004. El universo de trabajo lo constituyeron 264 pacientes. Los datos se procesaron en una microcomputadora XP y se utilizó el programa estadístico MICROSTAT. La tasa de infecciones intrahospitalarias por cada 100 egresos osciló entre 14 y el 19 %, el microorganismo más aislado fue Escherichia coli, el principal factor de riesgo asociado fue la cateterización de las vías urinarias; la drogorresistencia fue significativa para todos los microorganismos aislados y se incrementó la estadía hospitalaria hasta los 21 días.
