Lentes intraoculares: alternativa prometedora para la corrección de la afaquia en niños

Abstract

Se realizó una revisión acerca de las ventajas y limitaciones de los lentes intraoculares (LIO) en la cirugía de la catarata en niños. Se presentaron las ventajas ópticas de los LIO para la corrección de la afaquia, los parámetros a considerar para el cálculo del valor dióptrico de los LIO, las posibles complicaciones oculares que pueden derivarse de su empleo y las técnicas quirúrgicas para el manejo de la cápsula posterior utilizadas por diferentes investigadores en centros hospitalarios dedicados a la cirugía de la catarata infantil.
