Comportamiento del síndrome febril prolongado en niños de la sala Maceo

Abstract

Fundamento: la fiebre es la causa más común de consulta en Pediatría y está habitualmente relacionada con enfermedades infecciosas. Objetivo: describir el comportamiento del síndrome febril prolongado. Método: se realizó un estudio descriptivo en 27 pacientes ingresados con síndrome febril prolongado en la sala Antonio Maceo del Hospital Pediátrico Provincial Docente Dr. Eduardo Agramonte Piña de Camagüey, desde septiembre de 2002 a enero de 2007. Resultados: los principales signos y síntomas acompañantes fueron astenia, anorexia, palidez cutáneo-mucosa y adenopatías. Las causas encontradas con más frecuencia fueron infecciosas y las colagenosis. Entre los exámenes complementarios con resultado patológico se encontraron el hemograma con diferencial y la lámina de periferia. Más de la mitad de los pacientes fueron tratados con antimicrobianos. Conclusiones: en un número notable de pacientes no se precisaron las causas de este síndrome.
