Intervención educativa sobre bioseguridad en trabajadores de la Salud

Abstract

RESUMEN

Fundamento: la bioseguridad representa un componente vital del sistema de garantía de la calidad, es una doctrina encaminada a lograr actitudes y conductas que disminuyan el riesgo del trabajador de adquirir infecciones en el medio laboral.
Objetivo: elevar el nivel de conocimientos sobre la bioseguridad en los trabajadores de la salud del Hospital de Santa Cruz del Sur.
Método: se realizó una intervención educativa sobre la bioseguridad en los trabajadores de la salud del Hospital Enrique Santiesteban Báez desde el 1ro de enero al 30 de septiembre de 2008. El universo se conformó por cuatro cientos ochenta y tres trabajadores, se tomó una muestra de ciento doce trabajadores seleccionados a través de un muestreo aleatorio simple a los que se les aplicó un cuestionario.
Resultados: se evidenció que antes de recibir las labores educativas existían conocimientos adecuados sobre qué es la bioseguridad, las precauciones universales, las enfermedades que se pueden contraer si no se cumplen con las medidas de seguridad biológica y qué se debe hacer ante un accidente con un objeto corto punzante utilizado en un paciente con VIH/SIDA. No así en cuanto al nivel de conocimiento sobre las legislaciones vigentes, el cual fue bajo.
Conclusiones: después de aplicar la intervención se logró un aumento significativo del conocimiento en los trabajadores sobre la bioseguridad, por lo que se consideró efectiva la intervención.
