Beta-bloqueadores en la hipertensión arterial: ¿podemos descartarlos?

Abstract

RESUMEN

Fundamento: existen dudas acerca del uso de los beta- bloqueadores como drogas de elección en la Hipertensión arterial, (aparte de sus indicaciones obligatorias como son el fallo cardiaco, y el post infarto miocárdico agudo). Una investigación basada en la evidencia, presentada el 14 de agosto del 2007, en la revista “Journal of the American College of Cardiology” comparó a los regímenes de bloqueadores de canal cálcico, y/o inhibidor de enzima convertidora de angiotensina, vs el uso tradicional de beta bloqueadores y diuréticos, y detectó que la nueva combinación no solamente ofrecía grandes beneficios contra los eventos cardiovasculares, sino que además retrasaba la aparición de la diabetes, y disminuía la aparición de los mismos. Por lo que se sugirió lo inapropiado que sería el uso de los beta-bloqueadores como drogas de primera línea.
