Estrategia de intervención sobre dengue

Abstract

RESUMEN

Fundamento: el dengue es una enfermedad viral que se trasmite por artrópodos de mayor importancia en términos de morbilidad y mortalidad. Esta dolencia y su variante hemorrágica se suman a la creciente lista de enfermedades emergentes que afectan América Latina, Sudeste Asiático, Medio Oriente, África y Pacífico Occidental.
Objetivos: aplicar una intervención educativa para elevar el nivel de conocimiento en la población sobre el dengue.
Método: se realizó un estudio experimental de intervención educativa en el consultorio diez del médico de familia del área de salud correspondiente al Policlínico Previsora, desde enero a diciembre de 2008. El Universo se constituyó por seiscientos diez personas; se tomó una muestra de ciento setenta y cinco de ellas a través de un muestreo aleatorio simple que cumplieron con los criterios de inclusión y exclusión a los que se les aplicó un cuestionario. Esta investigación se realizó en tres etapas: diagnóstico, intervención y evaluación.
Resultados: se evidenció que antes de recibir las labores educativas eran escasos los conocimientos que poseían la población acerca de qué es el dengue, cuál es el vector que lo transmite, dónde vive, cuáles son sus hábitos; la vía de transmisión, los síntomas de esta enfermedad y las medidas a tomar para protegernos.
Conclusiones: al inicio de la investigación la población tenía pocos conocimientos sobre el dengue, luego de la intervención se logró un aumento significativo del mismo, por lo que se consideró efectiva la intervención.
