Valoración de la incidencia de diabetes mellitus en un área de salud

Abstract

Se realizó un estudio transversal, cuantitativo y de campo en el Grupo Básico de Trabajo # 2 del Policlínico Comunitario Ignacio Agramonte desde enero a marzo de 2003 con el objetivo de conocer la incidencia de diabetes mellitus bajo los conceptos actuales internacionales. Se aplicaron los nuevos criterios de la OMS para el pesquizaje de esta enfermedad. Se utilizó la glucemia plasmática en ayunas como piedra angular del diagnóstico. Se reportó un incremento de 465.5 x 100 000 personas en el año 2002 a 1687 x 100 000 personas en el 2003. El porcentaje de incidencia aumentó de 0, 5 % a 1, 7 %, el cual es 3,4 veces superior al existente. Por vez primera se determinaron las personas con niveles anormales de glucemia en ayunas para un total de 12, lo que representó una tasa de incidencia de 5063 x 100 000 personas y un por ciento de incidencia de 5, 05 %.
