Algunas consideraciones actuales sobre el cáncer gástrico

Abstract

RESUMEN

Fundamento: el cáncer gástrico es una de las neoplasias que produce mayor mortalidad en la población mundial.
Desarrollo: se presenta una revisión bibliográfica sobre los factores de riesgo mejor documentados y aceptados por la comunidad científica: infección por helicobacter pylori, dieta, susceptibilidad genética y nivel socioeconómico. Además, se analizan la formas de enfrentar esta enfermedad, y se hace hincapié en las interrogantes y retos que plantean los nuevos conocimientos, con el objetivo de profundizar en este tema de importancia relevante para gastroenterólogos, cirujanos, patólogos y médicos en general, y especificar los aspectos más novedosos en cuanto al manejo, prestando especial atención al diagnóstico y la terapéutica endoscópica.
Conclusiones: el diagnóstico temprano mediante la realización de endoscopia es la estrategia fundamental para disminuir la mortalidad por esta enfermedad.
