Community Project Put a Heart on Health to control COVID-19
Abstract
Introduction: The Community Project A la Salud Ponle Corazón was created in the Holguín municipality to contribute to the COVID-19 control in the communities with the greatest epidemiological complexity. The Provincial Health Directorate of Holguín addressed the doctors belonging to the Mario Muñoz Monroy Vanguard Movement. In this way, several outstanding young specialists who were trained in different healthcare units were summoned within this vanguard.
Objective: To describe the results of the A la Salud Ponle Corazón Community Project for the COVID-19 control carried out in the health areas of the Holguín municipality.
Methods: A descriptive study was developed on the results of the A la Salud Ponle Corazón Community Project in the health areas of the Holguín municipality from September to November 2021. The main actions developed were described and a group of indicators was developed that fulfill the project objective.
Results: 151 offices with 16,161 homes were intervened, this allowed the identification of 299 cases with positive antigen tests. 79 were classified as high risk. 5,478 convalescents were treated. 58.82% were detected less than 24 hours after the onset of symptoms. The positivity of the antigen tests for September was 35.47%, reducing in the subsequent months. Of the total number of convalescent patients treated, 384 of them presented some symptoms after medical discharge. Joint pain with 42.44% was the most frequent symptom.
Conclusions: The Community Project A la Salud Ponle Corazón managed to contribute to the control of the transmissibility of COVID 19 in Holguín communities.
